JVC DLP Lamps – Tips for Replacement

JVC is known around the world for producing some of the finest electronics in the world. Some of the most popular rear screen projection television sets in the world are produced by the JVC company. These types of television sets are known for having the highest quality pictures on absolutely huge screens. You can easily find JVC rear projection sets that are 44 inches or bigger at some great prices.

JVC rear projection televisions make use of DLP lamps to produce the best pictures available. You may notice that after you've had your JVC set for a while that the picture is not what it used to be. You may notice that some colors seem a little dull or that the picture just isn't quite as clear as it was when you first got your television. Many people immediately think that they will have to get some expensive repair work done to their JVC televisions when the picture starts to decline. You shouldn't assume that you will have to get a repair done if your picture isn't all it used to be. In fact, you probably just need to replace the JVC DLP lamp in your set.

What is a DLP Lamp?

When you bought your JVC set, you probably heard about the DLP lamp, but didn't give it a whole lot of thought. DLP is an acronym for Digital Light Processing. This technology, which was invented in 1987, allows rear projection television sets to produce some of the best looking pictures in the world, without burning images into the screen. Most CRT projection screens commonly suffer from picture burn in, but you won't face that with a rear projection DLP set. You will have to replace the DLP bulbs after about 10,000 hours of viewing though.

DLP Replacement Steps

If you're picture is beginning to degrade, it's time to replace the JVC DLP lamp. You can pick up a new lamp online or at a store and begin the process of replacing it. The entire replacement should only take a few minutes and your picture will be restored to what it once was.

Here are the DLP lamp replacement steps:

Get a Phillips head screwdriver and locate the access panel on the back/side of your JVC television.
Remove the panel and look directly in the opening. The DLP lamp will be directly in front of you.
Remove the two brass screws that are holding the lamp in place and gently remove the lamp.
Put the new lamp in, taking care to match the plug on the lamp up with the one on the set.
Replace the screws and tighten.
Replace the access panel and tighten the screws.
Turn the television on and see if the picture looks better.

Congratulations you have successfully learned to replace JVC DLP lamps. You will have to do this after several thousand more viewing hours, but in the meantime, enjoy watching your JVC set.
